On the opposite side of Wasini Island, Wasini Village is a competing tourism destination for visitors that take their lunches before and/or after dhow trips around the Marine Protected Areas, managed by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS).
Wasini Island lies 2 km South of Shimoni with Wasini channel separating Wasini from the mainland.
