Contemporaneously, on the same day (September 30), Swedish general Gustav Horn fought another battle nearby, just east of Wenden (not to be confused with the battle at Wenden between Horn and Gosiewski just two months later on December 3) with an army of 2,500 against Stefan Pacs inferior force of just 600–700 soldiers.
It begins at Wenden, Arizona and immediately climbs through the Harcuvars to Cunningham Pass.
In 1500 Plettenberg made an alliance with Grand Duke of Lithuania, Alexander Jagiellon (the Treaty of Wenden), who was in war with Russia since 1499.
Major cities, towns and castles of Wenden Voivodeship were: Kies, Ryga, Kokenhausen, Kircholm, Dyneburg, Rzezyca, Marienhaus, Schwanenburg, Lucyn, Krustpils.
