Church of Pakistan

Its most internationally famous clergyman, Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali, formerly diocesan bishop of Raiwind in West Punjab, was given sanctuary by Robert Runcie, the then-Archbishop of Canterbury when his life was imperilled; he then taught at Oxford and served as Bishop of Rochester, England.

Kandhari

After partition of India in 1947, Sikhs and Hindus migrated to India from West Punjab.

Nischal

When the Muslim country of Pakistan was created in 1947 with the partition of India, most of the Nischals living in West Punjab migrated to India.

Several Nischal families before having to migrate to India after Indian Partition can trace their origins to Adamke Village, which is located in Daska Tehsil of Sialkot District in West Punjab, which was in former Undivided India but now in Pakistan.

Punjab Legislative Assembly

In 1947, Punjab Province was partitioned into West Punjab and East Punjab and the East Punjab Legislative Assembly was formed, the forerunner of the current assembly consisting of 72 members.
