Among the wide variety of tropical trees and shrubs is a third generation breadfruit tree, a sucker from the original plant brought by Captain William Bligh (of Bounty fame) in 1793.
Captain William Bligh spotted and roughly charted the coasts of Lautoka while making his epic voyage to Timor, in the wake of the Mutiny on the Bounty in which he and a few sailors loyal to him were thrown overboard and cast adrift on a life boat.
In 1972, he visited Australia for the Melbourne Theatre Company’s production of The Man Who Shot the Albatross, a version of the Governor Bligh story; and then in 1975 returned to settle in Australia as associate director of the Melbourne Theatre Company, with an agreement to complete a trilogy based on Summer of the Seventeenth Doll.
He also played the loud and blustery Captain Bligh/Charles Laughton-like "Admiral Zahrk" who constantly bellowed about "Mister Kidno" and his missing goat cheese in the Lost in Space episode "Mutiny in Space."
Dropping by Van Dieman's Land to resupply, the Allegiance discovered William Bligh, late of the HMS Bounty, exiled there after being deposed in a military coup, and have since borne him to Sydney.

Bligh Sound is a sound of the South Island of New Zealand, named in 1809 by John Grono, after the ship Governor Bligh in honour of the Governor of New South Wales, William Bligh.
The special limited edition models were named after people influential to Australian history, including James Cook, Captain Bligh, Ludwig Leichhardt, Governor Phillip, Ned Kelly, Kingsford Smith, and John Flynn.

The British navigator William Bligh was the first European to sight the Yasawas in 1789, following the mutiny on the HMS Bounty.
He was also the author of works on Captain William Bligh and the Mutiny on the Bounty.
