Lord Carysfort died in April 1828, aged 76, and was predeceased by his eldest son, William, being succeeded in his titles by his second but eldest surviving son John.
He became the captain of Danae and in her suffered a mutiny on 14 March 1800; forty of the crew seized the ship off Le Conquet, Brest.
