March 22 – The first example of an anti-Semitic blood libel is recorded in England, in connection with the murder of William of Norwich.

William of Norwich

On Easter Saturday, the twelve year old William's body was found in Mousehold Heath, part of Thorpe Wood, outside Norwich.

William was an apprentice tanner who regularly came into contact with Jews and visited their homes as part of his trade.
