Spider Systems produced a wide range of products, including terminal servers, routers, network bridges, network analysers and network protocol software stacks for various operating systems, including the TCP/IP stack used in Microsoft Windows NT 3.1.

It was developed by Charles Bigelow and Kris Holmes in 1993, and was first shipped with the Microsoft Windows NT 3.1 operating system.
As a result, the project was codenamed "Daytona" in reference to the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.
