In 1914, he contributed Rs. 5,000/- to Medical College and Hospital for Women and the Nurses Training Institute in New Delhi in memory of Lady Hardinge, who initiated the project.
Winifred Selina Sturt was the second daughter of Henry Gerard Sturt, 1st Baron Alington, and his first wife Lady Augusta Bingham, who was the first daughter of George Charles Bingham, 3rd Earl of Lucan.
