In his review for the Winnipeg Sun, Darryl Sterdan gave the album four out of five stars, calling the collaboration a "match made in heaven".
The Winnipeg Sun gave a rating of 3.5 stars of 5 and wrote that their "searing blend of churning guitar, bristling impatience, tense dynamics, lyrical angst and anguished vocals ensures they'll please the punk purists" but also praised them as a possible punk future for expanding "their horizons by being unafraid of sweet harmonies, pretty melodies and the odd earnest ballad".
The resulting debut album, The Gift of Wolves, was released in April, 2006 on their independent label Whiskey Lad Recordings, to great acclaim from the Winnipeg Sun and the Winnipeg Free Press who hailed the album as a "mini-masterpiece".
Some of the initial comics published in the Sun were Ziggy, Frank and Ernest, Dallas, Ben Swift, John Darling, Graves, Inc., Barbara Cartland's Romances, Heathcliff, The Neighborhood, and Winthrop.
