Great Train Wreck of 1856

At the Wissahickon station another train, the Aramingo, engineered by William Vanstavoren, waited for the excursion to pass on the single track line that had opened one year and 15 days earlier.

Henry Antes

Henry Antes emigrated with his father's family to Pennsylvania Colony about 1720, and built a paper mill on the Wissahickon near Philadelphia.

Battle of Germantown

The western wing of the camp, under the command of the Hessian general Wilhelm von Knyphausen, had a picket of two jaeger battalions at its left flank on the high ground above the mouth of the Wissahickon.
