Starting with "Little Taipei", the San Gabriel Valley has emerged as Southern California's publishing center for Chinese language newspapers including the Los Angeles editions of World Journal, Taiwan Daily, Sing Tao, International Daily News, The Epoch Times, China Daily, The China Press, and Xin Min Evening News.
On January 10, 2007, a Southern California jury found the Monterey Park-based Chinese Daily News responsible for failing to give employees breaks, lunches, and overtime, and awarded the plaintiffs $2.5 million.

World Journal is owned by the same media conglomerate that runs the United Daily News in Taiwan and is mostly run by Taiwanese Americans.
