In his book Coot Club (1934) he describes the busy scene on the river at Wroxham Bridge with numerous boats – a wherry, punts, motor cruisers and sailing yachts – jostling for a mooring.

Dame Alison Margaret Peacock DBE (born 17 October 1959) is co-author of Creating Learning without Limits, Member of the Royal Society Vision Committee, Member of the Commission for The Royal College of Teaching, Trustee of The Teacher Development Trust, a National Leader of Education and Headteacher of The Wroxham Teaching School.
Under Robert Fleck the club won the Senior Cup for the third time in 2003, beating Great Yarmouth Town 4–1, and retained it the following season by beating Wroxham 3–0.
After Aylsham Lock and Burgh Bridge, the Bure passes through Buxton Lammas, Coltishall, Belaugh, Wroxham, Horning, Ludham Bridge, past St. Benet's Abbey, through Oby, Acle, Stokesby, along the northern border of the Halvergate Marshes, through Runham and Great Yarmouth where it meets Breydon Water and flows into the sea at Gorleston.
