Alan Henry Spenner (7 May 1948 – 11 August 1991) was a British bass player who performed with Wynder K. Frog, The Grease Band, ABC, David Coverdale, David Soul, Joe Cocker, Lynda Carter, Peter Frampton, Ted Nugent, Mick Taylor, Murray Head, Kokomo, Roxy Music, and played on the original 1970 concept album Jesus Christ Superstar.
It was popularized in modern culture by the singing Michigan J. Frog of the Warner Bros. Cartoons.
In June 2005, Iwasa recorded a duet with Naoya Ogawa called "Katte ni Shinryakusha" (An Invader in My Own Way), which was used as an ending song of Sgt. Frog.
He also worked on One Froggy Evening, the first appearance of future Warner Brothers mascot Michigan J. Frog.
Among the songs Franklyn is said to have composed with director Chuck Jones and writer Michael Maltese is The Michigan Rag for the 1955 cartoon One Froggy Evening, featuring Michigan J. Frog.
The final image broadcast before the network shut down was that of a silhouetted Michigan J. Frog, who had been the network's mascot from the beginning until 2005 (the year before The WB shut down), taking a final bow.
In the famous Warner Bros. cartoon One Froggy Evening (1955), the skyscraper into which Michigan J. Frog is entombed is named the "Tregoweth Brown Building".
