Hardware-dependent operations are performed by the X68000's IOCS.
It was originally released for the PC-88 in 1989 and had been ported to various platforms, such as the Sharp X68000 (1990), MSX (1991), Sega Mega Drive and the Super Nintendo (both in 1992).

Before each game, the player is given a choice between three different sound modules: the X68000's FM Synthesizer, MIDI Roland LA (MT-32, CM-32L, CM-64) and MIDI Roland GS (SC-55, SC-33, SC-155, CM-300, CM-500).
