Öztürk; having been elected to the Turkish Parliament in 2002 as Istanbul deputy, started People's Ascent Movement and in his leadership this movement turned into a political party (2005) named People's Ascent Party (HYP).

On her return to Turkey, she was elected as a member of the executive committee of People's Ascent Party (HYP) in 2006 which was led by Prof. Yasar Nuri Ozturk.
