You Ain't Goin' Nowhere

On September 24, 1971, Dylan re-recorded three songs from the Basement Tapes sessions for inclusion on his Greatest Hits Vol. II album—"You Ain't Goin' Nowhere," "I Shall Be Released," and "Down in the Flood"—with Happy Traum playing bass, banjo and electric guitar, as well as providing vocal harmony.

Actor Oscar Isaac (with Kate Mara and Chad Fischer) performed a version of the song in the 2011 film 10 Years, which also appeared on the film's soundtrack.


Blair Thornton

As a songwriter, Thornton contributed two compositions to the Not Fragile album: "Givin' It All Away" and an instrumental called "Freewheelin'", still one of the favourite anthems of Not Fragile that also wound up as the B-side of the No. 1 hit "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet".

A comedic version of the song was covered for the 2005 film Be Cool by Dwayne Johnson, who portrayed a homosexual aspiring country artist in the film.
