Christopher Fulwood attempted to raise a Royalist force from his base in the Castle, but on 16 November 1643, Roundhead troops raided the house and killed Fulwood.
Langley Park School for Boys owns a building in the village, which is used for school trips, with students taking part in various local sporting activities, and a visit to nearby Alton Towers.
