He took office on 1 January 2011, after his predecessor Zaharin Yusoff left office late in December 2010.
Prof Zaharin bin Yusoff led the university for two years (2008–2010) before stepping down by the end of 2010, leaving the post to the third and current president, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Muhamad Rasat Muhamad, who officially took office on January 1, 2011.
