The Dweller of the Threshold (or Guardian of the Threshold) is a literary invention of the English mystic and novelist Edward Bulwer Lytton, found in his romance Zanoni (1842).
At eleven years of age he became interested for the first time in the mysterious "Rosicrucians", after reading Zanoni, the novel by Sir Edward Bulwer-Lytton, and he "decided to search for them and to become one of those mysterious Adepts".
Its grounds hold a fishermen's waiting shed with ship paintings by Henry Zanoni, the deck house from the iron sailing ship Shandon, and the buried hull of the Victorian torpedo boat HMVS Lonsdale.
