Vicente de Bonechea, (later spelled Buenechea) (1810-1884), an entrepreneur from Zarautz who came to San Sebastian as a cooper in the 1830s.
At first, very famous athletes took part in that competition such as Serge Reding and Alain Terme to name a few.
