One of ten children, her other siblings include: Anwar Maqsood, Zehra Nigah, Zubaida Tariq (cooking expert) and Mrs Kazmi, a famous dress designer.
The poet's grandson, Ali Madeeh Hashmi, talked about him as did Zehra Nigah and Ali Sethi.
One of her brothers, Anwar Maqsood, is a satirist and public speaker and another brother, Ahmad Maqsood was Secretary to the Government of Sindh.
