The company was founded in 1981 in Meductic, New Brunswick, Canada, by Robert Zildjian, son of Avedis Zildjian III, the head of the Avedis Zildjian Company located in Quincy, Massachusetts.
Roy is endorsed by DW (Drum Workshop), Evans, Pro-Mark, PureSound and was endorsed by Zildjian Cymbals but it can be seen in recent videos that he now uses Sabian.
It is one of the "big four" manufacturers of cymbals along with Zildjian, Paiste and Meinl.
