Before it was built, students would infrequently attend classes at the schools in Bald Hills or Zillmere.

This shopping centre services the residents of Aspley, as well as surrounding suburbs of Carseldine, Zillmere, Chermside West, Taigum, Bridgeman Downs and Albany Creek.
A small group met in Albion, Brisbane in 1871, however it was not until 1 August 1882 that C.M. Fischer and T Geraghty established the first Church of Christ in Queensland at the Zillman Waterholes (now Zillmere, Queensland ).
The district is located in the north-eastern residential suburbs of Brisbane, encompassing Aspley, Bridgeman Downs, and Carseldine, as well as parts of McDowall, West Chermside, Lawnton, and Zillmere.
The suburb of Zillmere is named for Zillmann, as are the Zillman Waterholes and Zillman Road in Brisbane.
The hospital was closed in June 1971 and the patients were relocated to a new hospital at Zillmere.
Initially, the land was sold for farming and comprised the land around Cabbage Tree Creek, bordered by what is now Zillmere Road, Roghan Road, Bridgeman Road and the northerly continuation of Kirby Road, covering mostly what is now Aspley, Carseldine and Fitzgibbon.
