The Church of St Margaret of Antioch was given to the Benedictine Abbey of St Jacut-de-la-Mer in Brittany, France around 1100 by Count Alan of Brittany or his successors and the Benedictines founded the alien priory on the site.
The church was given to the monks of Fontenelle Abbey, near Rouen, Normandy, becoming an “alien priory”, a small group of monks came from France to live there.
Stratfield Saye Priory was an alien priory belonging to the Abbey of Vallemont, located at Beech Hill in the Berkshire part of the parish of Stratfield Saye (in England).
