The first women's race in the new format was run six weeks later in San Sicario, Italy; won by Croatia's Janica Kostelić on February 27th.

The change to super combined resulted in major disapproval in the slalom-oriented part of the skiing community, the loudest critic being Ivica Kostelić.

The first super combined was a World Cup race held in 2005 in Wengen, Switzerland, on January 14th; Benjamin Raich of Austria was the winner.


Billy Kidd

At the 1970 World Championships in Val Gardena, Italy, Kidd won the gold medal in the combined and the bronze in the slalom.

Gudiberg

It hosted the slalom part of the alpine skiing combined event for the 1936 Winter Olympics in neighboring Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Markus Wasmeier

Wasmeier won a total of nine World Cup races, starting with two victories on February 9, 1986, in the Combined and Super-G events at Morzine, France.

Patrick Russel

He also won two silver medals in slalom and combined at the 1970 World Championships at Val Gardena, Italy.
