She was the subject of a surgery carried out by Dr. Sharan Patil and 30 other physicians which included Chief Anesthetist Dr. Yohannan John at Sparsh Hospital in Bangalore, Karnataka.
The house was owned by his grandparents, Edith Grisham and James Eldridge Cassidy, and they cared for him when his mother, Virginia, was away working as an anesthetist in New Orleans.
This marathon surgery led by Patil constituted a large team of doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and which included the famous paediatric anesthetist Yohannan John.
In May 1934 she was assigned as Operating Room Supervisor and Anesthetist at Naval Hospital, New York City, and was subsequently assigned to the same duties at Quantico, Virginia.
