Carbine

Some sources derive the name of the weapon from the name of its first users—bernarda troopers called "carabiniers", from the French carabine, from the Old French carabin (soldier armed with a musket), perhaps from escarrabin, gravedigger, which derives from scarabee, scarab beetle.

In Swedish service, the 6.5×55mm cartridge was used in the Swedish Mauser family of bolt action arms comprising the m/94 (Model 1894) carbine, m/96 (Model 1896) long rifle, m/38 (Model 1938) short rifle and m/41 (Model 1941) sniper rifle and the Ag m/42 semi-automatic rifle.

The French military were introduced to the cartridge when the US demonstrated the Pedersen device after the end of World War I in Le Mans and again when John Browning exhibited a carbine in the same caliber in 1920.

The FAVS Stradivari is a bullpup carbine series manufactured by FAVS - Fabbrica d'Armi Val di Susa S.N.C. (Susa Valley Arms Factory, Ltd.) located in the town of Villar Focchiardo, and owned by the expert gunmaker Edi Guglielminotti.
