The Federal Parliamentary Australian Labor Party, commonly known as The Caucus which consists of the Federal Labor Party's currently elected members of Parliament, is divided along formal factional lines.
It does not decide party policy, which is determined by the National Conference, nor does it elect the party's parliamentary leaders, which is done by the Parliamentary Caucus.
He quickly earned the respect of his colleagues and was subsequently anointed leader of the Progressive Party Caucus.
