More recently she has been involved in the struggle to protect Queensland’s Wet Tropics World Heritage Area and animals such as the Southern Cassowary, Mahogany Glider and Dugong.
Sea turtles are frequent visitors to the gulf as are sacred sharks, dugongs, and dolphins.
The bay off Inhassaro is popular with scuba divers with the reefs and the area is a seasonal home to many species of Dolphin, Turtle, the rare and endangered Dugong or Sea Cow, Whale sharks, Manta Rays and Humpback whales.
