Basil or Vasiľ Hopko (April 24, 1904, Hrabské — July 23, 1976) was an eparch (bishop) of the Slovak Greek Catholic Church.
He was ordained on 26 November 1998 in the Cathedral of St. George in Lviv by Bishop Sofron (Mudry), O.S.B.M. and incardinated in the Major Archeparchy of Lviv of the Ukrainians.
On October 29, 2013, Pope Francis appointed Father Kurt Burnette, until then the Rector of Saints Cyril and Methodius Seminary, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (since October 2012), as Eparch (Bishop)-elect of the Eparchy, succeeding William Skurla, who had become the leader of the Byzantine Catholic (Ruthenian) Archeparchy of Pittsburgh, the U.S. headquarters of this particular Eastern-rite Catholic church.
Taking his place as eparch of the United States is Bishop Nicholas Samra.
Nicholas Samra (born August 15, 1944) is the eparch of the Melkite Catholic Eparchy of Newton in the United States, elected in 2011.
