unusual facts about faunal stage



Dromicosuchus

The fossils came from a mudstone next to a river channel deposit, in Lithofacies Association II of the Deep River basin, part of the extensive Newark Supergroup, dated as pertaining to either the late Carnian or early Norian faunal stages of the Late Triassic.

Kirktonecta

The holotype was collected in the East Kirkton Quarry, near Bathgate of West Lothian, from "Bed 82" East Kirkton Limestone of the Bathgate Hills Volcanic Formation, dating to the Brigantian substage, of the late Viséan stage, of the Dinantian series (Early Carboniferous), about 333-328.3 million years ago.

Pachycheilosuchus

The remains were recovered near the top of the Glen Rose Formation of Erath County in central Texas, in rocks dating from the early Albian faunal stage.

Pycnonemosaurus

It was found in the Upper Cretaceous Bauru-type red conglomerate sandstone, in the Mato Grosso, in Brazil and lived about 70 million years ago, during the Late Cretaceous (Maastrichtian stage).

Timimus

The holotype specimen, NMV P186303, was found in a layer of the Eumeralla Formation, dating to the Albian faunal stage in the early Cretaceous, some 106 million years ago.
