The device, displaying six martlets or heraldic swallows on a shield, later formed the basis of the flag of Sussex and the armorial bearings granted to the county councils of East and West Sussex.

Martlet House

Prior to 2004, the Martlet House designation had been applied to two properties: one on University Street, followed by a move in 1971 to a Mountain Street property built in 1925 by architect Robert Findlay for Alice Hallward.

Martlet House (formerly Seagram House) is a Scottish baronial style building on Peel Street in Downtown Montreal, Quebec.
