3M computer

3M was a goal first proposed in the early 1980s by Raj Reddy and his colleagues at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) as a minimum specification for academic/technical workstations: at least a megabyte of memory, a megapixel display and a million instructions per second (MIPS) processing power.

Comparison of the Java and .NET platforms

At the 2007 JavaOne conference Sun made further desktop related announcements, including a new language aimed at taking on Adobe Flash (JavaFX), a new lightweight way of downloading the JRE that sees the initial footprint reduced to under 2 Mb, and a renewed focus on multimedia libraries.

GDDR5

On February 20, 2013, it was announced that the PlayStation 4 will utilize 16x4 Gbit (i.e. 16x512 MiB) GDDR5 memory chips for 8 GiB of GDDR5 @ 176 GB/s (CK 1.375 GHz and WCK 2.75 GHz) as combined system and graphics RAM for use with its AMD-powered APU.

Kodak DCS 100

The DSU contained a 200 megabyte hard disk drive that could store up to 156 images without compression, or up to 600 images using a JPEG compatible compression board that was offered later as an optional extra.

NetPositive

Built binaries of NetPositive, including all encryption libraries, and other tools not provided by the OS itself, such as the HTTP and FTP engines, weigh in from 1.4 to 1.7 MB in size, uncompressed, depending on the strength of encryption provided.

PlayStation 2 technical specifications

The standard PlayStation 2 memory card has an 8 MB capacity and uses Sony's MagicGate encryption.

Seagate Technology

The hard disk, which used a Modified Frequency Modulation (MFM) encoding, was a hit, and was later released in a 10-megabyte version, the ST-412, with which Seagate secured a contract as a major OEM supplier for the IBM XT, IBM's first personal computer to contain a hard disk.

Zilog Z280

Zilog added a memory management unit (MMU) to expand the addressing range to 16 MB, features for multitasking and multiprocessor and coprocessor configurations, a 256 byte cache, and a huge number of new instructions and addressing modes (giving a total of over 2000 combinations).
