Minivan

A European minivan design was conceived in the late 1970s by the Rootes Group in partnership with the French automaker Matra (which was also affiliated with Simca, the former French subsidiary of the Chrysler Corporation, sold in 1977 to the PSA Group).

Chrysler S platform

A new Volkswagen minivan, named Routan, was introduced at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show and is manufactured by Chrysler alongside its own minivans in Windsor, Ontario.

The minivan platform has evolved through five generations, from the original S platform forming the basis of the Dodge Caravan, Plymouth Voyager (discontinued) and Chrysler Town & Country — to the current RT and RM platforms, which underpin the current Dodge Grand Caravan, Chrysler Town & Country, Chrysler Grand Voyager, Ram C/V, and Volkswagen Routan.

Greg M. Greeson

Greeson then worked at Volkswagen Design's Düsseldorf studio, where he was a Senior Designer and responsible for the exterior design of the 1992 Volkswagen Sharan minivan.

Jacqueline Mars

On October 4, 2013, Mars was driving alone on U.S. Route 50 in Aldie, near her home in The Plains in northern Virginia, at about 2:30 pm when her 2004 Porsche SUV crossed the highway center line and struck a Chrysler minivan carrying six passengers.

Mazda Premacy

The Mazda Premacy is a compact MPV otherwise known as a "MiniVan-Van" built by the Japanese manufacturer Mazda since 1999 and now in its third generation.

The Mazda5's closest relative is the European compact MPV, Ford Focus C-MAX, though the Mazda5 uses minivan-style sliding doors in the rear while the Ford has four conventional front-hinged doors.

Numbers in Chinese culture

The minivan that GM makes for the Chinese market is called the Buick GL8, but the minivans it sold in other countries didn't have that name.

Third row seating

Third row seating refers to seating in a vehicle such as a station wagon, SUV, MPV, or minivan to expand seating beyond the front and back seat found in most automobiles.

Volkswagen CrossBlue

It is meant to replace the slow selling Volkswagen Routan minivan, and is meant to be sold exclusively in the American and Canadian markets, however Volkswagen of Australia is currently trying to convince Volkswagen executives to have the concept appear in Australian Auto Shows.
