Ares Vallis is an outflow channel on Mars, named after the Greek name for Mars: Ares, the god of war; it appears to have been carved by fluids, perhaps water.
The caldera, with gullies radiating from it, is just to the upper right of center; the outflow channels Dao Vallis and Niger Vallis merge near the bottom.
It is situated on the south-eastern shorelines of the Jacobs River Estuary being formed by the Aparima and Pourakino Rivers, which leads through a narrow outflow channel into Foveaux Strait.
