Peace camp

Women's only peace camps were based at Waddington, Lincs from April 1982- September 82 and Capenhurst October 1982-March 1983 Other, mixed-sex, peace camps sprang up at the military bases of Upper Heyford, Daws Hill in High Wycombe, RAF Molesworth, Lakenheath, Naphill and Faslane.

A Torpedo Town festival was held in the area for a number of years afterwards, the largest in 1991 at Liphook in Hampshire when some 25,000 people danced to the Spiral Tribe sound system.


History of the Ministry of Defence Police

Most notable was the peace camp and very large protests against the deployment of US Cruise Missiles at the USAF (RAF) Greenham Common and other UK locations; and regular largescale protests at the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment Aldermaston.

Peace walk

Early in 1984, peace campers walked 26 miles from Daws hill to Naphill through country roads and countryside to raise money for The Angry Pacifist magazine.
