Margaret Ann Mick (June 1, 1860 - May 25, 1925) was the first female Canadian peace officer to be killed in the line of duty, and the first woman to be added to the memorial commemorating fallen police or peace officers near Parliament Hill in Ottawa.
The film is similar to High Noon in that it features an entire town refusing to help a peace officer against outlaws, showing no backbone.
Justice Peter Cory, writing on behalf of the Supreme Court, said "Even where the orders are manifestly unlawful, the defence of obedience to superior orders and the peace-officer defence will be available in those circumstances where the accused had no moral choice as to whether to follow the order."
A peace officer component was created in the late 1980s and reorganized in 2003 when Los Angeles City Council members Wendy Gruel and Jack Weiss proposed to create the Office of Public Safety by merging the many city security services (Library Security, City Park Rangers and General Services Police) into one centralized division of the Department of General Services.
Law enforcement: Commissioned (sworn peace officer) rangers are federal law enforcement officers with broad authority to enforce federal and state laws within National Park Service sites.
He is also commemorated in the Canadian Police and Peace Officer's Memorial on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.
