Costa graduated in 1975, shortly before Angola's independence, in petroleum engineering at the Montanuniversität Leoben, a technical university in the Austrian city of Leoben concentrating on mining, metallurgy and materials.
The university offers doctorates in Petroleum Technology, Offshore Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Special Needs Education, Literacy and Social Science (with specializations in Medicine and Health, Risk Management and Societal Safety, Management, Economics, Tourism, Sociology, Social Work and Culture & Society).
She also made a recent contribution to the development of the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas to support the inspiration of young people in the field of petroleum engineering.
She, along with her husband, Asoke Deysarkar pledged to donate the USD 1 million for setting up a Center for Petroleum Engineering at IIT Kharagpur during IIT 2013 Global Conference in Houston.
Koroknay was formerly a councillor of Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association Limited and the chairman of the Advisory Board for the School of Petroleum Engineering at the University of New South Wales.
