Teodoro Paleologo di Montferrato, protonotary apostolic — cardinal-deacon of S. Teodoro (received the title on 27 April 1468), † 21 January 1484
In 1969, he was named Prelate of Honor (Reverend Monsignor) by Pope Paul VI and was bestowed the highest rank of Monsignor, Protonotary Apostolic, in 1979 by Pope John Paul I.
About the year 1514 he removed to Rome, where, under Clement VII, he held the office of apostolic protonotary; but having in the sack of that city (1527), which almost coincided with the death of his patron Cardinal Rangone, lost all his property, he returned in poverty once more to Mirandola, whence again he was driven by the troubles consequent on the assassination of the reigning prince in 1533.
Giovanbattista Branconio dell'Aquila (1473 – 1522) was a papal protonotary and chamberlain, as well as a friend of the artist Raphael (who painted The Visitation; Raphael designed the palace of Palazzo Branconio dell'Aquila in the Borgo for him).
