Rural district

A few rural districts consisted of only one parish (for example, Tintwistle Rural District, Alston with Garrigill Rural District, South Mimms Rural District, King's Lynn Rural District, Disley Rural District and Crowland Rural District).


District of Cardiff

The district was formed by the Local Government Act 1972, from the county borough of Cardiff, the parishes of Lisvane, Llanedeyrn, Radyr, St. Fagans and Tongwynlais from the Cardiff rural district in the administrative county of Glamorgan and the parish of St Mellons from the Magor and St Mellons Rural District in the administrative county of Monmouthshire.

Marie Corbett

She was a member of the Uckfield Board of guardians for 36 years, one of the first women poor law guardians and was also recorded as being the first woman to serve as a Rural district councillor in Uckfield.
