The Hawaiian wrestler Daiki (Percy Kipapa) wins the makushita championship with a perfect 7-0 record, ensuring his promotion to the sekitori ranks.
Daidō was the third wrestler from Senshu University to achieve sekitori status, following already retired Musoyama and Katayama, the latter of whom was also from the same stable.
It had no sekitori wrestlers after the retirement of Daizen in 2003 and at the end had just three active wrestlers, all in sandanme or below (and one of whom, Kasachikara, was 41 years old).
