In January, 2002, construction kicked off and by December 2002, eight structures (blocks) were up, six classrooms, an administration block and a staff room.
It accommodates more than 1700 students and provides classrooms and related rooms, including a computer room, museum, library, auditorium, administrative staff room, chemistry laboratory, and cafes.
The school staff room and hall were used for the filming of The Beiderbecke Tapes in 1987, shortly before the schools demolition.
