6 unusual facts about the Orb

Aubrey Mixes: The Ultraworld Excursions

The album consists of seven alternate mixes of their first album, The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld.

RTÉ Chill

It broadcasts mostly chillout and ambient music as well as other low-tempo genres and generally includes cutting edge artists such as Leftfield, The Orb, Sigur Rós and Juanita Molina.

The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld: Patterns and Textures

The soundtrack was also included as a bonus disk on a limited edition of the initial UK vinyl pressings of U.F.Orb.

The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld: Patterns and Textures is a 1992 (see 1992 in music) video by the UK electronic music collective The Orb.

A limited edition of the original UK VHS tape release came with a bonus CD (catalogue number ORBFREECD1) of the soundtrack.

Two Fingers My Friends!

It was released in two forms, a single disc version and a limited edition double disc set and features remixes by various electronic, industrial and hip-hop artists such as The Orb, Hoodlum Priest and Jah Wobble.

Electric Counterpoint

As with other pieces by Reich, this piece has influenced many modern musical artists, such as the Orb, which sampled the third movement of the Pat Metheny recording as one of the hooks of "Little Fluffy Clouds," and RJD2, who sampled the piece's opening of his song "The Proxy" from his first release, Deadringer. In 2008 Joby Burgess' Powerplant arranged the work for xylosynth, taking influence from Metheny and the Orb.

Federico Fabregat

In addition, he has various artistic musical projects of vanguard, where he has shared the scene with figures such as The Orb and System 7, Nopal Beat Collective among others.

Oxygene 7–13

The Orb's single "Toxygene" was originally intended for release as a remix for the single release of "Oxygène 8", but was rejected by Jarre for being too distant from the original.

Darwin's bark spider

According to professor Ingi Agnarsson, director of the Museum of Zoology at the University of Puerto Rico, the spider's web occupies a unique biological niche: "They build their web with the orb suspended directly above a river or the water body of a lake, a habitat that no other spider can use".

Magic Shop Books

The orb turns out to be a dragon egg, which hatches into a female dragon that Jeremy develops an unusually strong empathic/telepathic connection with and whom he names Tiamat.

Not George Washington

For example, from 1904 to 1909 Wodehouse edited the "By the Way" column for the now-defunct The Globe newspaper, while the book's main character, James Orlebar Cloyster, writes the "On Your Way" column for the Orb newspaper.

The Harris Tweed Authority

When this trade mark, the Orb, was eventually granted, the Board insisted that it should be granted to all the islands of the Outer Hebrides i.e. to Lewis, North and South Uist, Benbecula and Barra, as well as to Harris, the rationale for this decision being that the tweed was made in exactly the same way in all those islands.

Toxygene

As the Orb's highest charting single, the band appeared on Top of the Pops to promote the song.

WAU! Mr. Modo Recordings

Their sublabel, Inter-Modo, also released records from Juno Reactor and The Orb's collaborative side-project FFWD.

They released several early albums by The Orb that were mainly distributed by record labels such as Big Life.
