:Home to over one hundred species of birds, including: Macaw, Bird of Paradise, Great Curassow, Blue-crowned Pigeon, Green Touraco, Channel-Billed Toucan, Toco Toucan, Golden Pheasant, Vulturine Guineafowl, Wood Duck, Emerald Dove, Violet Turaco, Asian Fairy Bluebird, Red-and-yellow Barbet, Taiwan Sibia, Finch-billed Bulbul and Eclectus Parrot.
"El Tucán", was a regular fixture in the Newell's Old Boys setup, and during the Clausura 2006 season he scored 9 goals in 18 games, but better was to come in the 2006 edition of the Libertadores where Newell's reached the knockout stage.
Toucans range in size from the Lettered Aracari (Pteroglossus inscriptus), at 130 g (4.6 oz) and 29 cm (11.5 inches), to the Toco Toucan (Ramphastos toco), at 680 g (1.5 lb) and 63 cm (29 inches).
The large amount of biodiversity is obvious, with bird species estimated at 113 different species, some of which include toucans, hummingbirds, and green Pacific Parakeets (Aratinga strenua) known as Chocoyos nationwide.
This lake has more than 100 important indigenous species such as the red snook fish (Petenia splendida), crocodiles (Crocodylus moreletii and Crocodylus acutus), jaguars (Panthera onca), Pumas (Puma concolor), White-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus), red brocket (Mazana americana), and several bird species, including parrots, toucans, and macaws.
The animals he rescued were Ling Ling the Panda, Slippery the Seal, Yoyo the Monkey, Princess Penelope the Poodle, Leo the Lion and Tico Toucan (who originally works for the Circus Bros.) They went to Antarctica, the African Plains, China, the Amazon Rainforest, India and Paris.
It was formerly considered to be two species, with the southern and western nominate subspecies, R. t. tucanus, named the Red-billed Toucan, and the northern and eastern subspecies, R. t. cuvieri, Cuvier's Toucan (when considered a species; R. cuvieri, Wagler, 1827).
