Molten-Salt Reactor Experiment

By 1960 a better understanding of fluoride salt based molten-salt reactors had emerged due to earlier molten salt reactor research for the Aircraft Reactor Experiment.

Centrifugal pumps were developed similar to those used successfully in the aircraft reactor program, but with provisions for remote maintenance, and including a spray system for xenon removal.

Casting defect

This defect is caused by uneven cooling, both primary cooling and secondary cooling, and includes molten steel qualities, such as the chemical composition being out of specification, cleanliness of the material, and homogeneity.

Snyder's photos featured such memorable events as the completion of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge and Madison Square Garden, and showed ships carrying iron ore, skyscrapers under construction, and molten steel being poured.
