Epeli Nailatikau I

Ratu Epeli's eldest son, Ratu Penaia Kadavulevu inherited the title of Vunivalu, while his second daughter, Adi Moce was the wife of Ratu Alifereti Finau and the grandmother of Fiji's Founding Father, Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara.

Monarchy of Fiji

In the late 1840s, the Vunivalu or ruler of Bau, Tanoa Visawaqa (died 1852) declared himself Tui Viti, which translates as "King of Fiji" or "paramount chief of Fiji".

Niumataiwalu

This latter attribute would eventually attract the attention of one of the noble ladies of Bau, causing an illicit affair and leading to his eventual demise, for the lady was the Radini Levuka, wife of the Vunivalu or Paramount Chief of the Kubuna Confederacy.

Popi Seniloli

After his death in 1936, it is argued that his eldest son Ratu Tevita Naulivou inherited the title of Vunivalu, after whom it transferred to Ratu George Cakobau.

Seru Epenisa Cakobau

Cakobau retained his position as Fiji's second most senior chief the title of Vunivalu of Bau,and formally ceded the highest and most precedent Chiefly title of Tui Viti or Paramount Chief of Fiji to the person of Her Majesty Queen Victoria which is currently held by her descendant Elizabeth II.

Taliai Tupou

As he did not have the reserves of manpower like the Tui Cakau or Vunivalu of Bau he could never risk confrontation with his adversaries and the alternative was to maintain friendly relations over as wide a field as possible.

Tanoa Visawaqa

As the animosity intensified, Ratu Tanoa was forced into exile, firstly on Koro Island and then in Somosomo on Taveuni, where he remained until his son, Ratu Seru Cakobau led a coup in 1837, reinstalling his father as Vunivalu until his death in 1852, whereupon Cakobau inherited the title.

Ratu Tanoa Visawaqa was a Fijian Chieftain who held the title Vunivalu of Bau.

Ulamila Kurai Wragg

Wragg is a Fijian citizen, she is the daughter of the late Fijian Chief Ratu Tevita Vakalalabure (the Vunivalu of Natewa) and is the younger sister of Ratu Rakuita Vakalalabure.
