The 2001 CIAU football season began on August 31, 2001, and concluded with the 37th Vanier Cup national championship on December 1 at the SkyDome in Toronto, Ontario, with the Saint Mary's Huskies winning their second championship.

In 2001, current head coach Glen Constantin was hired and the team went on to win seven more Vanier Cup titles, in 2003, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2013.
