At first, KOPW was reported to R&R as an urban contemporary station, but has since started adding artists like Lady Gaga, 3OH!3, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, David Guetta and Britney Spears to its playlist and has evolved to a broader Rhythmic direction, and in October 2009 was added to both Mediabase and Nielsen BDS' Rhythmic panels.

Some well-known acts that have played at the Classic Grand include Dead Swans, Diana Vickers, Seasick Steve, Clutch, Feeder, 3OH!3, Dimmu Borgir, and Autumn In Disguise.
For instance, Warped Tour co-creator and CEO Kevin Lyman calls the group 3OH!3 as "the real tipping point for scrunk", and said that "though 3OH!3 doesn't incorporate the blood-curdling screams of many scrunk acts, they were the first emo-influenced act to depart from traditional instruments in favor of pre-programmed beats", while still retaining many of the stylistic elements of emo.
