Its habitat has been reported as being sandy soils in open Acacia acuminata or Eucalyptus wandoo forests in compact colonies.
The main host species is Acacia acuminata, which is used in plantations, which sustains a 15- to 30-year long-term host species in loamy sands over clay duplex soils.

The reserve has a flat relief supporting vegetation associations of high conservation value, including Bowgada and Jam scrub with York Gum and Red Mallee woodlands.
