It has been generally accepted that Barrios was born in San Juan Bautista de las Misiones, Paraguay.

Also, several biographers and authorities present convincing documented evidence that Barrios was born, instead, in the nearby town of Villa Florida, Misiones, situated on the Tebicuary River some 30 km north of San Juan Bautista.
The house of Mangoré, today a museum and a cultural center, is frequented by tourists.
One of the most important people from the Misiones Region, was the brilliant musician Agustín Barrios (Mangore), and Villa Florida was part of his life.

His first CD, My Favourite Pieces is released in 2009 containing compositions by Bach, Giuliani, Barrios, Morel, Farkas and Castelnuovo-Tedesco.
Some of the more valuables items are the ones that belonged to Luis Alberto del Paraná, one of the most important exponents of Paraguayan music; and the guitar that belonged to Agustín Pío Barrios.
As a researcher, he has published, together with Luis Szarán, the book “Mangore, Life and Plays of Agustin Barrios“, and he has been preparing “The Documents of Barrios“ and “Barrios seen by his contemporaries”.
